Day 304 - Quiet stroll

Not a terribly exciting picture, but I'm glad to have my treadmill working right again. It had developed a most obnoxious thunk/squeal kind of noise and had made what little exercise I get a very unpleasant experience. The fix-it man came yesterday and did... fix it, that is.

Day 287 - Discovering the beauty

Oh boy, this week's theme of discovery is going to be fun! Per Karin's instructions, I randomly opened the dictionary and discovered, believe it or not, the word kaleidoscope. Well, those who know me know that I just happen to collect kaleidoscopes! How's that for karma?? It was meant to be. ;)

This recent addition to my collection was a most thoughtful Christmas gift from my wonderful son and daughter-in-law.

Day 269 - Ooops...

Almost forgot to take a picture, so this is a last minute one ... lotion on my tootsies before I go to bed.

Day 181 - Penning in Pink

A gift from Lew, my pink pen/pencil set has held up well under many years of use, abuse (unintentional) and non-use. It's pretty tapestry holder keeps it nicely protected.

Day 179 - Rosy Pink

The mystical properties attached to rose quartz make this special heart-shaped gift from my daughter-in-law even more special. Historically, it is a symbol of love and beauty. I keep it on my desk and periodically run my fingers over its cool smoothness when I think of her.

About Rose Quartz

Pink or peach-colored quartz is called Rose Quartz. It has a hardness of 7.

Rose Quartz is found in Brazil, India, Madagascar, Spain, and several locations within the USA.

Day 175 - Pink on pink

Now I'm really pushing it... toothbrushes. I'm down to taking pictures of my toothbrushes. Arrggh!! ;)

Karin, you have no idea how hard pink is for me. Not that I don't like it, I do, I just don't have that much. So much for my girly side, huh? lol

Day 165 - As I see it

One of my greatest pleasures is reading in bed. My nightly routine is to crawl into bed, get all comfy cozy, and switch to my reading glasses. Then, curl up with my book and read until I get sleepy.

Day 148 - Twinkle toes

With sandal season fast approaching, it's time to get my tootsies in shape with a little home pedicure treatment. Unless I religiously slather goop on them on a daily basis, I have the dryest feet on the planet! I can cover them up with socks when it's cold, but when the weather warms up, they need a little work before I take them out in public. ;)

Day 79 - Green writers

It's rainy, cold, and dismal outside so I decided to scrounge around inside for something green. Since I'm not particularly fond of the color except in nature, I didn't think I'd find much, but it's amazing what we see when we really start looking. This beribboned pen (a thank-you gift from a scrapping supplier) and pencil were right under my nose, in the pencil cup on my desk.

Day 49 - Ah-choo!

A pretty little box of tissues I keep around...

...did I say little? I meant eensy weensy, itsy bitsy, teeny tiny! ;)

Part of my collection of doll house miniatures, this tiny tissue box is dwarfed next to a regular-sized box.

Day 45 - Happy Valentine's Day!

Well, today being THE day of hearts 'n love 'n stuff, what else would I be taking pictutres of?? ;)

Hope you all have had as lovely a day as I have!

Day 40 - A box of shadows

Having given up on natural shadow-making sunlight, I settled for indoor lighting on my shadow (get it? shadow? lol)-box collection of Siamese kitties.

(And, of course, you knooow the sun was shining it's fool head off while I was messing around with this photo, don'tcha?? Arrggh!)

Day 25 - Gem Drop

My eye was drawn to the bright colors of the stones and bits of glass in this kaleidoscope as the afternoon sunlight filtered into our living room.

Day #353 - Treating myself...

Needing to replenish one of my wintertime favorites, I also took advantage of a Bath & Body Works special for tootsie scrub - regular price for one, only $5 for a second on selected items. Niiiice!

Day #323 - Bargain shopping...

I bought several colors of this particular sweater last year and was real pleased with the quality - I like Sag Harbor anyway. When I saw that Kohl's online had them on sale again a couple of weeks ago, I snatched up a couple more ($30 sweaters for $12.99 each!) They're soooo soft - they almost feel like cashmere - and versatile too. Looks good alone or under a blouse, jacket, or vest.

I just loves me a good bargain!

Day #321 - Abracadabra!!

As if by magic, an exact duplicate of the smashed vase! Except for the pretty red stones and floating berries, even the flower arrangement is almost identical. Gotta love thoughtful husbands!!

Needless to say, a certain cat, who shall remain nameless, has not been allowed anywhere near the mantle! We shall see if said cat loses one of his nine ...

Day #317 - These little piggies...

Tonight was pamper my tootsies night. They got a sorely needed Swedish file treatment, footbath scrub, nail clip, and lots of lotion. Then I treated them to a paraffin bath and finished up by slathering on more soothing foot cream. Soft as a baby's butt!

Day #314 - Where'd my life go??

Jeez, talk about time flying by!! I've just applied for social security benefits this week and I gotta tell you, it's a mind-bender! How'd I get this old this quick?? lol

Day #310 - Memory block...

Another sweet memory I came across today. It's been tucked away in the drawer for safekeeping while all the renovating was going on.

My granddaughter and her mommy (Hi Cindy!) lived with us for 9 months when she was a baby while my AF son went to tech school. Then they moved to California. After they left, I found one of her forgotten blocks and dissolved into a puddle of tears because I missed her so. I thought the "U" (you), meaning her, was very symbolic and I've kept it on my desk all these years as a precious keepsake. It can still pull at my heartstrings every once and awhile. *sniff* They grow up so fast...
