Day #365 - I DID IT!!!

I really can't believe I actually completed this project without missing a single day - I am so proud of me! What a year! I've "met" a group of lovely ladies through this project (and fully intend to maintain contact!) and I've learned a whole lot more about how a camera operates. There were times when I thought I had to be out of my mind to have committed to this for such a long time, but for the most part, I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I know I will miss it... eventually... but right now I'm looking forward to a bit of a break from the obligation of coming up with a photo idea every day. I've actually considered taking Karin (Frozen in Time) up on her Project Posse challenge, but decided I really need the break. Maybe I'll pick up on it later...

Day #364 - REDSKINS 27 - DALLAS 6

Yes!! Beating Dallas - how sweet it is! We're in the playoffs!!

Day #363 - Father and son... and cat

Here for the weekend, Richard and Lew have a father/son chat while Buster deigns to being held by a not-so-familiar pair of arms.

Day #362 - Home again, home again, jiggity jig...

Having gotten over her displeasure at being left behind at the vet's, Zoey cozies into a favorite snoozing spot and catches some zzzz's as life returns to normal.

Day #361 - Sights on the way home...

The baseball water tower outside of Charlotte seems like an old friend; the beautiful vistas along Lake Norman, which I fell in love with at first sight many years ago, more than make up for the ugliest building on the east coast in downtown Charlotte. (Not bad photos for traveling along the road at 60 plus miles an hour!)

Day #360 - Wheee!! (aka Wii)

Needless to say, we all enjoyed their new Wii - what an addictive game!! (I think I may have to start saving my pennies... or visit my son more!)

Day #359 - Merry Christmas!!

Ah, the rewards that come with growing up. Finally past the constant bickering stage, brother and sister share a tender together moment watching TV.

Getting pretty familiar with this and I 81. We travel through the Shenandoah valley and mountains on our way to the Carolinas.

Day #353 - Treating myself...

Needing to replenish one of my wintertime favorites, I also took advantage of a Bath & Body Works special for tootsie scrub - regular price for one, only $5 for a second on selected items. Niiiice!

Day #352 - Signed, sealed, delivered...

... well, allmost delivered. Got most of my cards sent yesterday and finished the last couple today. They are in the mail and on their way, complete with these pretty holiday seals and address labels.

Phew!

Day #351- Branching out...

Now here's something we don't see every day! After the bodacious winds we had yesterday and last night, we had our share of branches scattered 'round and about the yard and surrounding areas. This one though, settled atop the deck pergola, surprised me this morning.

Day #350 - And there they sit...

No matter how many times I've looked at them, they still haven't signed, addressed, and mailed themselves. *sigh* Tomorrow, for sure.

Day #349 - Candy Cane Cookies...

I am going to gain soooo much weight! Tried another new recipe today and oh yeah, these cuties are so good! And ridiculously easy too. The recipe's on my kitchen blog.

Day #348 - Wrap it up...

Day #347 - Christmas candles...

Some lighted Christmas greenery, a few scattered ornaments, and a couple of cranberry candles add a bit of holiday cheer to the mantle...

Day #346 - Box in a box, in a box, in a box...

Used to be you got real boxes like these when you bought a Christmas gift; not those flimsy, foldy things you get now... if you even get one before they conveniently "run out." We got these pretty ones at WalMart a couple of seasons ago for a pretty good price. (My mother would faint at the idea of buying a box!) Anyway, I hoard them like crazy and try to see that they hold presents that stay in-house so we can use them again (a couple have managed to escape to other regions of the country!) What a Scrooge! ;)

Day #345 - Good grief, Charlie Brown!

Tonight was haircut night and my stylist's Charlie Brown Christmas tree not only made the salon more festive, but was perfect for an adorable photo of the day!

Day #344 - Spiral lights...

I was lazy and took this shot of our new spiral trees from inside the house...

Day #343 - And then there was none...

This tiny little patch is all that remains of the six inches of snow we had the other day. A couple of days worth of warmer temps and today's rain made it disappear real quick. Now Lew has to wait for everything to dry out so he can finish with the rest of the leaves.

Day #342 - Sticking close to home...

I really do need to get out more... didn't even use this to open the door today!

Day #341 - Cherry kisses...

Guess what I've been munching on all evening?? Oh my, these things are absolutely decadent! If you're a fan of chocolate covered cherries, they're not a bad substitute - all the flavor minus the cherry. Good stuff!

Day #340 - Snow clean-up...

A good bit of the snow had melted by this afternoon, but there was still enough on the car to warrant a good brushing off before getting on the road. Nothing worse than having the snow on top of a car ahead of you blow off and smack you in the windshield!

Day #339 - Snow Day...

It's arrived a little early for our area, but our first snowfall of the season has been at it since about 8-ish this morning. The grass is still peeping through, but there's probably about 2-3 inches out there right now. Might be enjoying our first fire of the season later too!

Day #338 - The finished product...

Lew added a bit of contemporary sparkle to the wreath with a little artful draping of some bling wire decoration he found. Looks kinda cool but hard to tell with this photo. I'm having a devil of a time with my camera and color saturation. Haven't figured out how to remedy it yet (clearly different lighting didn't help - but made for an interesting shadow effect!)

Day #337 - Door decor...

We got the wreath for the door today, so now all we need to do is "dress it up" purty so it's not quite so bare.

Day #336 - Snuggley warm...

Nothing like waiting until the last minute for my daily shot! Our cozy flannel sheets and an extra blanket are about as creative as I can get tonight.

Day #335 - Lotsa squeezing going on...

I'm now reduced to taking pictures of... toilet paper. I don't think we'll be running out anytime soon.

God, I soooo need to get out more!! :D

Day #334 - Oh. My. Goodness!!

And I do mean goodness! Saw this recipe for spiced shrimp over at The Pioneer Woman Cooks today and just had to try it. Trust me when I tell you, it's totally delicious and lives up to all the kudos it got. And soooo easy too.

Of course, anything this good has to be full of calories, and it is - lots of butter - but so worth it... unless you have it every day! ;)

Day #333 - Paybacks are hell...

Us moms often end up having to eat our words, especially if we're fortunate enough to have fun-loving, wise-arse kids. Back when mine was just a young'un, we used to have a running joke at Christmas time and I would always tease him with that old cliche of "if you don't behave, Santa's going to bring you a lump of coal." One year, after he was older and had a family of his own, we were at his home for the holiday. Don't you know that brat had managed to find this tin with 3 lumps of coal to gleefully give his dear ol' mom for Christmas!! It was a hoot! :D

Day #332 - Beastie beauty...

My two most favorite beastie grooming tools are the "cootie" comb and scissor-style nail clippers. I've had the comb forever - bought it for my first Siamese cat over 30 years ago and probably paid all of 50 cents for it, if that. Now you can't hardly find the darn things! I've never had to use it for its intended purpose of head lice/nits but it's the best fur comb out there - much better than the specialty pet combs.

The scissor clippers are a lot less traumatic to use - for them... and me!

Day #329 - Deck the halls...

... or in this case, windows. Got a good start on the outdoor decorations for Christmas and the four front windows are done. For once, the weather cooperated and it wasn't the coldest day of the year like it usually is. Hopefully it'll hold until we're finished.

Day #328 - Leaf picker...

Christy wanted to show her friends how pretty fall is in MD so she picked a bagful of leaves to take along on her trip home today. They don't get all these colors in her part of SC... probably has something to do with all those pine trees they have! ;)

We enjoyed Thanksgiving Day with the traditional roast turkey and all the trimmings...

Day #323 - Bargain shopping...

I bought several colors of this particular sweater last year and was real pleased with the quality - I like Sag Harbor anyway. When I saw that Kohl's online had them on sale again a couple of weeks ago, I snatched up a couple more ($30 sweaters for $12.99 each!) They're soooo soft - they almost feel like cashmere - and versatile too. Looks good alone or under a blouse, jacket, or vest.

I just loves me a good bargain!

Day #321 - Abracadabra!!

As if by magic, an exact duplicate of the smashed vase! Except for the pretty red stones and floating berries, even the flower arrangement is almost identical. Gotta love thoughtful husbands!!

Needless to say, a certain cat, who shall remain nameless, has not been allowed anywhere near the mantle! We shall see if said cat loses one of his nine ...

Day #320 - On my street... and in my yard...

The trees and leaves are looking especially pretty in my neighborhood now and I couldn't resist taking more fall photos on such a crisp, clear day.
