Complete with dust, the speed light* from Lew's old film SLR camera accounts for my word discovery of the day. (I'm sure grateful for digital cameras -- I can't imagine going back to film!)
*electronic flash, also referred to as speed lamp
Another quickie last minute shot before the stroke of midnight. Lew watching the news as Buster poked open his eyes to see what I was up to.
... the keyboard. Lew going through today's photos to decide which one he'll use.
Lew getting ready to cut the grass.
Lew helped me out by nicely posing his hand for this week's theme. :)
He's the only guy I know who would decide to interrupt his Father's Day relaxation to go out and cut the grass at 7:30 pm... when the light was rapidly declining... on an otherwise beautifully cool day. Go figure, huh? ;)
While Lew was getting his shot for the day (in his sexy baggy-ass shorts,) I got mine of the photographer in action. See that pretty little iridescent gazing globe? It wasn't until he showed me his shots later on that I noticed the gooey, slimy slug sitting on top!! Ewwwwww! Jeez, I hate those things!
The mighty dandelion hunter returns victorious!
We grow 'em big here in MD - ginormous weeds! Might be the fresh, country air... but more likely the fact that by feeding the azaleas/dogwoods, we unavoidably provide hearty meals for the weeds as well! ;)
Some of this season's New Guinea impatiens are planted, mulched, watered and all ready to display their talents in the back yard.
And, while trying to get today's shot, I inadvertently caught this reflection of Lew for this week's theme - father to his and step-father to mine.
I'm baaaack! Sorry I've not posted all week, but I was having too much fun visiting, catching up with, and reminiscing with my sisters, brother, and sis-n-law. Though not my best efforts, I did manage to get a shot in every day in between singing, eating, playing, and enjoying their company.
Terrible composition I know, but this was my emergency shot - it almost didn't get taken at all. With all the excitement of family arriving, I totally forgot about picture-taking. It's a nice pic of my guy, though... except for the fan thing. ;)
I've always loved the perfect stitching on ...
Lew's slippers!
You may have noticed, over there on the right sidebar, a new name under "More Project 365 Bloggers"... Lew's Pics. That would be that guy I live with, the one who puts up with my photographic frolics, and takes some pretty awesome photos himself. Give his photo blog a visit when you get a chance - he's not so bad for an old bald guy! ;)
Here for the weekend, Richard and Lew have a father/son chat while Buster deigns to being held by a not-so-familiar pair of arms.
Getting a little raking done before the football game interrupts ... ;)
We spent the most delightful afternoon with Ginny, who we haven't seen for waaaay too long. She was attending a medical conference in VA, and we met up with her at Dulles Airport for lunch and a few hour visit before she had to fly back to Texas. A really fun way to beat a miserably rainy day!
Wow, what a beautiful bunch of flowers Lew's daughter, Beth, sent to congratulate him on his retirement. The fall colors are just gorgeous. Buster thinks so too; he's had the audacity to jump up on the mantel... twice!!... for a closer look-see. Baaaad kitty!
...and the man's wasting no time practicing his relaxing skills and getting into this retirement thing.
Lew is retiring - tomorrow is his last day. Today his company/co-workers had a retirement party for him and along with a generous gift card, gave him this GPS. Isn't that cool? He's been playing with it for awhile - I think he likes it. ;)
Me, messing with my camera, taking a shot of Lew messing with his computer...
The leaves are starting to fall in earnest now and in an effort to stay a little ahead of the task of raking them all up, Lew lets the mower do some of the work.
