Day 324 - A red pot

I've wanted an enameled cast iron dutch oven for years but refused to pay the exorbitant prices these things fetch. After finding a good deal on a Lodge pot on Amazon, I finally broke down and bought one. It arrived today and became a pretty good mineral camera subject.

Day 274 - Red Leaves

"Everyone must take time to sit
and watch the leaves turn..."
~ Elizabeth Lawrence ~

Our pink dogwood presents a pretty fall display of red berries and leaves.

Day 104 - The Red Thing

Haven't a clue what it's supposed to symbolize, but this interesting metal sculpture sits outside the entrance of Flights of Fancy, a whimsical specialty gift shop on Shab Row in Fredericktowne.

Day 50 - Bead bubble

So I'm walking to the door this afternoon and catch a glimpse of red in the small flower bed by the front step. I bent down to see what it was and found this tiny little bead lying there. Wondering where it came from, I picked it up, brought it inside and absent-mindedly dropped it in the glass coaster sitting on the table.

Then, the more I looked at it, the more I thought it might make an interesting photo... the tiny little bubble inside was intriguing.

Day 33 - Fireplug soldier

Apparently the familiar red fireplug is becoming a thing of the past, at least around here. Most of what you see now are either yellow/orange, yellow/green, or occasionally, yellow/red. Some even sport trendy new "flat tops" instead of the unique little "helmet heads" we're so used to.

Since the all-red models seem to be passe, I thought I'd record one for posterity. ;)

Day 31 - The train doesn't stop here anymore...

In our town, we have a railway that used to be part of the Pennsylvania Railroad, which ran from Columbia, PA, through several small towns, and then into Frederick, MD. For decades it was a thriving business as dairy farmers sent their products to market and local residents rode the train into Frederick for the day or north to the "big cities."

Following a merge with New York Central in the late 60's, bankruptcy, flood damage, 20 years of disuse, and volunteer reconstruction, it now operates as a small (about 5 miles) weekend excursion railway and museum.

When they were just little guys, our grandsons used to really enjoy riding this vintage train.

Day 30 - Stop here

Sometimes the obvious makes for a semi-interesting shot - don't think I've ever seen anything but a red stop sign.

Day 29 - Rubber stomp

Not what you'd call s**t stomping boots (I've got another pair of those!) ;) but these little red numbers are good when it's cold and wet outside, like it is today.

Day 28 - Red Alert

In support of National Wear Red Day on Friday, Feb. 1, and the fight against heart disease in women, Karin has chosen "Red" as this week's theme. I thought these red hearts made an appropriate photo for the topic.

Day #324 - A study in red...

Got all artsy-fartsy today with a few cranberries and rose petals...

Day #237 - Red letter day...

My red pantry letters got put on the back burner when the boys were here and with all the family room upheaval, but I finally got back to them today. They're going to take a bit of work to look right - at the very least, several coats of paint. I hope I don't have to do a lot of sanding - not my favorite job. :p

Day #175 - Kitchen Kraft

The beginning of another kitchen project. Since we just happen to have some left over red paint and I just happen to have these letters that spell "food" for over the pantry door, I guess it's time to get 'er done! ;)

Day #174 - Color Me Red...

Earlier this month, I talked about trying to choose a red paint for the front door. Well, we finally decided on Ruby Ring by Behr so Lew bought the paint, prepared the door, and did the deed today.

One more coat oughta do it.

Whoooo ... it is soooo RED! heh! It'll take some getting used to but we really like it. I'm glad we did it.

Day #153 - Decisions, decisions...

We're seriously considering painting our front door red so have been collecting various paint chips for comparison. Jeez! There must be umpteen bazillion shades of red! After awhile I start seeing spots and they all start looking alike - maybe we'll just leave it as is. :)

Day #54 - More red

Got this in the mail yesterday and now I think we're done with red stuff for the kitchen. Maybe a red dish drainer, but that's about it. We're starting to get more than I planned, and I don't want to grow weary of it too soon.

Day #49 - Red Stuff

My collection of red stuff is growing. After I can't even remember how many years, we decided to retire the glass canisters and replace them with these cool red enamel ones Lew found at Wal-Mart. Slowly but surely, my red/white/bisque kitchen is evolving.
