The aftermath of last night's rain storm had Carroll Creek looking like the Monocacy River that it feeds...
Road to farm completely submerged by the same creek... you can see how far underwater the posts are.
Normally, Israel Creek runs placidly along the trees in the background. Now it's covering the bottomland of a nearby farm. This particular creek is about 1/4 mile from our backyard and it's extremely disconcerting to watch it overflow its banks when we have heavy rains. Luckily, we're uphill!
I remember back in January 1993, we had 13 straight days of rain (highly unusual here in the desert). Normally dry washes were overflowing, and I lived just a block from one. As I watched the water creep towards my front doorstep, I got extremely nervous. I hope I never have to live with that anxiety again.
I love that first photo especially; the colors of the sky are stunning. Great job!
I'm a nice lady with a nice hubby and 2 relatively nice cats. This is where I talk about bits and pieces of the world I live in - good, bad, and indifferent - sprinkled with love, whimsy, wisdom, and a bit of nonsense.

Glad you guys are uphill!
Yikes, that's a lot of water! I love that first picture especially because of the moon in it. Neat.
Thanks y'all! :) I wasn't sure they'd turn out because it was getting dark.
Another title for the first photo "Rising moon over rising water" You have taken some super photos!
Sorry about all the flooding rain, but those are some truly gorgeous photos!

I agree they are exceptional photos. You have a talent. Thank God you ARE on a hill. You may have had a pond in your basement.
