Day 139 - Candle light

“My candle burns at both ends;
it will not last the night;

but ah, my foes, and oh, my friends

it gives a lovely light!”

Edna St. Vincent Millay

You can't really tell that well from the photo, but not only does it smell good, it's a purple candle too! :)

Day 135 - Uhmmmm...

...I don't know what it is. Some kind of screwdriver something from Lew's stash. It's purple... that's all. :)

Day 133 - The Color Purple

"I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple
in a field somewhere and don't notice it.
"
Alice Walker

In spite of the wind and rain we've been having, our newly blooming rhododendron was just begging to kick off this week's purple theme.

Day 75 - Purple Pretties

On this beautiful sunshiny day we're having, I couldn't resist the pretty upturned faces of these crocus as they posed in the sunlight for me.

I also couldn't resist another collection of yellow for this week's theme. I can't get over how much yellow I'm aware of now since taking the photos of the yellow motorcycle - there are yellow vehicles everywhere, just everywhere! I took these earlier in the week from the car window as we rambled around town taking care of business.

Day #155 - Purple and green...

We're really pleased with the performance of our purple lady this year. It still has beaucoup buds and some of the flowers, I swear, are almost as big as saucers. Spectacular display!

I really don't do anything special with them - water them, keep the roots protected with perennial snow on the mountain ground cover, and cut them way back around November. They don't even get fed as often as they should. Just lucky, I guess.

Day #151 - Passion for purple

My clematis started opening yesterday and is in all stages of bloom - from buds, to creeping open, to fully open. I hope to get a shot of it in full bloom in a couple more days.

Day #112 - Shades of Purple - 7

My baby girl's hair and other things still live in a drawer in the dresser in her room at my house. My baby girl is 21 years old now... but it doesn't seem so long ago...

Day #111 - Shades of Purple - 6

How many purple buildings do you have where you live?? LOL! One of the many interesting old buildings in downtown Frederick, this one's been on this corner since 1886.

Day #110 - Shades of Purple - 5

We went to a party with my brother and sis-n-law the last time we visited and the hostess passed out Mardi Gras beads to everyone. I forgot I had them until the other day when I was looking for purple stuff to photograph - how convenient for me!

Day #109 - Shades of Purple - 4

What's more purple (and stains better) than good ol' grape juice.

Day #108 - Shades of Purple - 3

I've recently gone on a decorating color-kick... from my years-long love of pastels to more vivid and brighter reds (kitchen,) purples (bedroom) and blues (bedroom). This is one of the shades of purple replacing the peaches and cream that used to be in our bedroom.

Day #107 - Shades of Purple - 2

After crawling around on the ground and getting nothing but wet, cold, and blown about for my trouble, I opted to pick a few of my grape hyacinths and bring them inside for a picture instead. *sigh*

Day #106 - Shades of Purple - 1

Okay, I'm running short on ideas here... maybe another color challenge will get my juices flowing. Sooo, this week I'm going to do purple stuff... or shades of purple.

Lew brought this little guy home from work for me awhile back - I think it was a business promotional thing. It's cute cuz it's purple... it even has purple staples!

C'mon, ladies (and any gents peeking!) - pick a color and join me! :)
