All that falls shall rise again."

Day 184 - Heaps of hay

The farmer has been busy this past week harvesting and baling (see Lew's Pics) the wheat field. Before baling, it gets piled into these neat rows so the baler can pick it up.

Day 182 - Free as a bird

There really is a bird in this photo!

Nothing says freedom like a grandly soaring hawk. I was only able to get one shot of this one looking for something to eat in the wheat field before it disappeared. It's not the best shot, and I actually thought I'd missed it, but when I looked at it on the computer, there it was. It's a little hard to see against the green in the first photo, but I cropped it a good bit to give a better view in the second.

Day 105 - Field of gold

Too pretty to be a weed, this field-growing brassica (wild mustard family) showed off its cheery yellow goldness in all its glory today under our deliciously blue and sunny skies.

Day 86 - Grazing

The peaceful spring scene I see from the back of our house. I'm thinking the cows are enjoying being able to munch on tender new grass for a change instead of a steady diet of winter hay.

Day 77 - Green, green grass of home...

First things first - wishing you all a most Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

May your day be touched
by a bit of Irish luck,
brightened by a song in your heart,

and warmed by the smiles

of the people you love.

Alrighty then, on to today's photo. The greening of the fields behind our home has been calling to me so I was tickeld to see green would be this week's theme. (Somehow I just knew it would be, Karin - probably because I'm Irish myself!) ;)

Day 12 - Field Dressing

In the winter, the local farmers spread manure - lots of manure - to prepare the fields for spring planting... charming odor!

Day #307 - Deer danger?

This was the weirdest thing. A whole bunch of deer ran out of the woods, across the field, and then just stopped! The whole story is on my regular blog - Lil Bits of Me.

Lew, being the cool dude that he is, ran upstairs and got my camera for me. I'm always impressed with the zoom on my camera; where they were standing is about 1/4 mile from the house - the photo was taken with the zoom all the way out.
